Control panel design and manufacture
A panel is the part of a control system nobody looks at until something is wrong with it. We build them so that the day somebody does open the door — at 2am, during a breakdown, possibly not us — the drawing matches what is inside and every core is labelled at both ends.
We design and build panels for plant utilities and process machinery — motor control centres, PLC panels, VFD panels, distributed I/O enclosures, marshalling cabinets and operator desks. Sizes run from a wall-mounted starter panel through to floor-standing multi-section boards.
Design starts on paper. You approve a general arrangement and a set of schematics before we buy hardware, which is the cheapest point at which to change your mind about a spare-ways allowance or a different drive brand.
What we design to
- Enclosure
- IP54 / IP55 painted steel, IP65 and 316 stainless for wash-down and corrosive duty
- Segregation
- Power, control and instrument routed separately; screened cores earthed at one end
- Identification
- Every core ferruled at both ends and matched to the schematic
- Thermal
- Heat load calculated per panel; fan, filter or cooling unit sized against worst-case ambient
- Protection
- Discrimination checked across the board, not assumed from the device catalogue
How a panel job runs
- Step 01
Scope and site data
I/O count, motor schedule, control philosophy, ambient conditions, incoming supply, and where the panel physically has to fit. If drawings exist for the plant it is joining, we want them.
- Step 02
Design and approval
GA, schematics and BOM issued for your comment. We do not order long-lead items until this is signed.
- Step 03
Build and wiring
Backplate assembly, wiring, ferruling and labelling in our Chennai workshop.
- Step 04
Factory acceptance test
Powered up on the bench against a written schedule — continuity, insulation, I/O forced point by point, interlocks proved. You are welcome to attend; most clients do it remotely by video.
- Step 05
Despatch and site support
Packed, delivered, and where you want it, positioned and terminated by our engineers rather than handed to a contractor with a drawing.
Retrofitting into an existing board
Plenty of jobs are not a new panel at all — they are a new section, a controller swap or a drive replacement inside a board that has to be back in service on Monday. That work is scoped as a retrofit and planned around your shutdown window.
