Building automation and facility control
Most facilities do not need a new BMS. They need the eight systems they already have to appear on one screen, with alarms that mean something.
Industrial facility control is a different job from commercial building automation. The occupants are machines, the setpoints come from a process rather than from comfort, and a drift that a commercial building would never notice can put a production line out of specification.
We integrate existing plant controllers rather than replacing them, sequence between machines at the plant level, and present the result on the same SCADA as the process side wherever the site allows.
What integration usually involves
- Reading what each package controller actually exposes, which is rarely what its datasheet implies
- A gateway or protocol converter where a device only speaks its vendor's own bus
- Plant-level sequencing so machines stop fighting each other
- A single alarm philosophy across systems that arrived with four different ones
- Metering placed to answer specific questions rather than to be comprehensive
- Reports scheduled to the people who can act on them
